"They Call It Rodeo" is the first in a series of paintings conveying the action and danger cowboys face on the circuit. This painting was created using Bob Ross paints and brushes. I also incorporated glazing effects from my mentor, Bea Cox's, Wildlife techniques.
Amazing painting again! So many details!
I think this is what makes people with Art education different from amateurs.
This painting immediately recalled rodeo we saw in Cody, Wyoming, because of the mountains on the back.
but if to examine further there are actually cactus far away. What is the geography ?
I think it is rule of thirds playng a trick on you Felix. :) it certainly does it to me.
Thanks Felix. I like the way the Wrangler banner turned out too. I worked so hard on the cowboy, and the banner only took a minute.
Thank you Sunnylady. The background is just a simplified rendition of the South Maricopa Mountains in Arizona. I love the warm colors against the blues in the fencing.
Please don't get me wrong, the cowboy is fantastic of course, there is just a certain effect on the sign that I really love
I love this color combinations of blue and earthy colors too. I'll google about the location. Thanks for the beautiful paintings.

This might sound strange, but the Wrangler panel is my favorite part of the painting. The shadows and texture on it looks so real!
